Open Your Heart and Help Seniors Thrive! – donation campaign launched
In 2024, the Uniting Foundation are launching their donation campaign Open Your Heart and Help Seniors Thrive! with the purpose of alleviating the loneliness of senior citizens.
Funds collected during the campaign will be used for a series of culture and leisure events for lonely seniors at the Uniting Care Social Center. The Center provides a monthly opportunity for members of the Seniors’ Club to join their peers for a social outing. Together, we explore the most beautiful places all over Latvia, we visit museums, attend theater performances and cinema screenings, we play board games, have book readings, or simply share stories over a cup of coffee or tea.
The campaign goal is 5000 euros, which would provide for the 50 members of the Seniors’ Club for a year, including:
- Transportation and special transportation to events in Rīga, Jūrmala, and all around Latvia;
- Event tickets (concerts, theater, ballet, opera, and cinema);
- Services of tour guides, hosts, and other personnel;
- Lunch or coffee breaks.
As we launch the campaign Open Your Heart and Help Seniors Thrive!, we wish to shine a light upon the Seniors in our care, to highlight their unique personalities and remind everyone that senior citizens are an important part of our society, and yet, due to financial strain, they are often excluded from social life.

The Uniting Foundation will continue providing for the essential needs of those under our care, however, with the support of our donors, we would like to reach our next goal – to help these Seniors thrive beyond basic sustenance! They deserve to participate in society, to experience fulfillment and joy, the company of their peers, and a continued opportunity to enrich our society with their invaluable contributions.
Each donor will receive a yearly newsletter about the use of their donation. Anyone is welcome to donate, as each euro will help improve our Seniors’ life!
