With the support of Uniting, a delegation from Latvia joins the March of the Living through Auschwitz–Birkenau

This year marks the 80th anniversary of the liberation of prisoners from Auschwitz–Birkenau. On April 24, thousands of people from around the world — including 80 Holocaust survivors with their descendants, and for the first time, a delegation from Latvia — are taking part in the March of the Living through the former Auschwitz–Birkenau concentration camp.

This year’s march takes place at a significant moment — commemorating 80 years since the liberation of prisoners from Nazi concentration camps across occupied Europe.

This important event provides an opportunity to honor the memory of those who perished in the Holocaust, to pay tribute to the survivors, and to recognize the sacrifices and victories of the Allied forces who brought an end to the war and liberated the camps.

The March of the Living will be accompanied by a global virtual educational program, where descendants of survivors will share personal stories and family memories of their parents or grandparents — ensuring that this history is passed on to future generations.

The march is not only an act of remembrance — it is also a powerful call to stand against present-day antisemitism, racism, and intolerance.

We at the Uniting Foundation are honored to support this vital initiative, one that seeks not only to commemorate the victims, but also to strengthen our shared commitment to building a more just and humane world.

Whether you are present in Poland or following along from afar — everyone can be part of this journey.

Join us online to remember and carry the legacy forward.

The live stream is available from April 23 on the March of the Living website, Facebook, and YouTube.
